Microsoft Word - Tip # 4: Precision Settings
Precision can be achieved in different situations in MS Word by holding down the ALT key.
- When setting tabs or adjusting a table's column width, hold down the ALT key while
dragging the tab marker or column markers along the Ruler. (The measurements of each tab setting / column will
also be displayed.)
- For Drawing objects, to precisely move an object, press the ALT key while dragging with the mouse.
Note: When the Alt key is NOT used while dragging with the mouse, the tab, column or object will 'snap' to the next measurement.
